The Concealer Edit

The hunt for the perfect under eye concealer seems never ending.

I find that some have a great, lightweight consistency but not enough coverage and the really heavy duty, high coverage offerings are too drying to even attempt tackling those dark circles with.

I have always suffered from dark undereye circles. But like many people, I also find that area can get quite dry and makeup will either crease really easily or look cakey once set.

I haven’t found ‘the one’ yet but there are definitely 3 concealers that I keep coming back to time and time again.

COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER | I think this has been the most consistently mentioned drugstore product online for years now, I even see it featured by US YouTubers that purchase it via sites like Amazon, and with good reason. I am pretty sure this was one of the first complexion products I owned. When I bought my first tube of this it was more than likely even cheaper than it’s current £3.99, the brand was Collection 2000 and I just used it on blemishes. Now I buy at least 1 shade lighter than my skin tone, currently, I am using Fair 1, and it is used to cover those dark circles and highlight the centre of my face.

Now if my under eyes are feeling dryer than normal I have to steer away from this as it can be a bit drying, but on normal skin days, this is incredible. It offers great coverage and highlights at the same time, creases very little and sets like a dream. I have had more tubes of this than I could even count and I don’t think this will be my last. It is so affordable that it is always worth having one lying around.

MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND EYE ERASER CONCEALER | Ok, I don’t think this is called Instant Age Rewind anymore, but it was when I first bought it. This is another drugstore concealer that has a big reputation online. I first heard about this on YouTube a few years ago, used up 2 tubes then didn’t buy it again. Until last week, I was in Boots with my mum and found myself telling her how amazing it was and I couldn’t remember why I stopped using it, so quickly purchased a new one. Some people cut the little sponge applicator off, as it can be a bit of a breeding ground for bacteria, I personally just clean mine regularly as I love the way this applies using it. The formula itself is quite thin which means it blends out beautifully. I apply straight from the tube with the sponge to my undereyes in the typical triangle area, down my nose and the centre of my forehead and blend out with my EcoTools sponge or Beauty Blender. It is so quick and fool proof with lovely results and only £7.99.

BARE MINERALS BARESKIN COMPLETE COVERAGE SERUM CONCEALER | A higher end choosing with a bit of a higher price tag than my other 2 choices of £22, but this is worth it. I don’t get on with Bare Minerals bareSkin foundation all that well but it’s little sister concealer is amazing. As this is a serum based concealer it is perfect for under the eyes. I tend to pick this up whenever my undereyes are feeling a little dry as it not only covers and blends out without clinging to any dryer patches, but it also offers a great amount of hydration without creasing throughout the day. I don’t particularly like this to cover blemishes but I do have it in most shades as it also works really well to highlight and contour if you want something that isn’t a powder product but not as heavy as your typical creams.

I always find myself coming back to one of these 3 products as they never seem to let me down and offer exactly what I am looking for. That being said I always tend to have an additional concealer on rotation just to try out other brands and formulas. I can’t wait to try the new NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer next as it is receiving so much love right now that I am intrigued by a new formula to what I normally go for.

Do you have a favourite concealer for under your eyes?
