Queen Bey | Lemonade and Ivy Park

Beyonce Lemonade Ivy Park
My biggest thing is to teach not to focus on the asthetic. It's really about who you are, and the human being, that makes you beautiful. - Beyonce Knowles

This is slightly different to my normal Monday posts. Monday's for me are about motivating and inspiring. Starting your week as you mean to go on, with a good attitude and the belief that anything is truly possible.

So although this isn't a typical Monday Motivation post I feel it is relevant in s many different ways and for so many different reasons.

There are not many celebrities that I feel starstruck by, who I really admire and look up to, but Beyonce is definitely one of them.

At 34, she has accomplished a hell of a lot and certainly doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Since finding fame in Destiny's Child in 1997 she really has become an 'Independent Woman' having won over 180 awards from Grammy's to Golden Globes.

But, if I am honest, it isn't her professional achievements that I find most admirable, it's the way she carries herself. She is a feminist in the best sense of the word. She is outspoken and speaks about what she truly believes but without shoving it down people's throats. She using the median of her music to stand up for black women as well as women everywhere in ways many people with the same influence don't.

She is arguably one of the most famous female artists out there yet you don't often hear about her in the press. It is a huge accomplishment to have the likeability and presence that she has without having your relationships and family out there for everyone to analyse, especially in the day and age of reality TV.

There are many women in the public eye that do not necessarily take note of the responsibility their professions give them. I don't judge anyone's choices but these people are the ones that children and young children mould their personas and lives around, they are who the younger generation look up to. Beyonce always places focus on what to beauty is, about the person that you are and the way yu live your life. That a woman is much more than the man or woman by her side, they are not who are you but the person who should compliment you.
We all have our imperfections. But I'm human and you know, it's important to concentrate on other qualitites besides outer beauty. - Beyonce Knowles
Beyonce is on a bit of a roll at the moment. With the surprise release of her new visual album 'Lemonade' as well as the launch of clothing line Ivy Park.

I have a Spotify subscription so it is very rare that I will buy an album anymore, especially considering my car has no CD player. But whenever Beyonce drops a surprise album I buy it straight away on iTunes, and I am never disappointed. It takes something really special to be able to release an album with no hype beforehand and it do as well as hers do. She doesn't need the hype to be built for her, she carries it in whatever she does.

Ivy Park

When I heard about the Ivy Park launch I was so excited. Gym clothes are my favourite to buy and you can never really have too many. The range promised style and functionality and it doesn't disappoint.

My excitement grew when I discovered that both Topshop and JD would carry the line. Although I didn't know the price of items at that point the stockists that they selected showed it would be affordable, and it is more so than I thought.

I haven't yet purchased anything bu am dying to get my hand on some of the bits above. The overhead hoody is only £32 and is one thing I am desperately lacking in my gym wear. I have 1 hoody for the gym right now and it's starting to look worse for wear. The tanks are only £15 too which is a lot cheaper than my usual Nike or Lululemon purchases.

At the moment, everything seems to be sold out in average sizes. I ventured into Topshop yesterday and all they had were XS and XXS but it gave me a chance to have a feel and the quality seems pretty good!

I am on a Spending Ban right now but as soon as some of this is back in stock I think I will need a bit of a treat.

Have you tried any of the Ivy Park range yet? Do you have any celebrities that inspire you like Beyonce?

  1. Beyonce is definitely one of my idols! I love Ivy park, it's such a great, affordable fitness range and the pieces I've bought make me feel amazing :)

I also love that she releases her music with album visuals, rather than individual music videos, I way prefer watching them as a film.
